Kohuttu punk-yhtye Rise Against Suomeen syksyllä!
Maailman tämän hetken kohutuimpiin punk-yhtyeisiin lukeutuva Rise Against saapuu konsertoimaan Suomeen lokakuussa. Konsertti pidetään Helsingin Kaapelitehtaan Merikaapelihallissa tiistaina 27. lokakuuta.
Chicagolaisen Rise Againstin musiikki on melodista hardcore punkia. Vuonna 1999 aluksi Transistor Revolt ?nimellä perustetun yhtyeen nousu punkin maailmankartalle on ollut nopeaa. Rise Against on julkaissut jo viisi studioalbumia, joista uusin, Appeal to Reason, ilmestyi vuonna 2008. Levy nousi Yhdysvaltain listalla kolmoseksi.
Rise Against on tunnettu vahvoista sosiaalisista ja poliittisista kannanotoistaan, joita on käytetty myös monissa heidän kappaleissaan. Yhtyeen jäsenet ovat paitsi kasvissyöjiä myös vakaumuksellisia eläinten oikeuksien puolustajia. Yhtyeen muodostavat Tim McIlrath (laulu, kitara), Joe Principe (basso), Brandon Barnes (rummut) ja Zach Blair (kitara).
Yhdysvaltain presidentinvaaleissa Rise Against toimi Barack Obaman kannattajana. Yhtye totesi vaalien alla lehdistötiedotteessaan, että mikään ei ole miellyttävämpää kuin nähdä USA:n viimein vapautuvan George Bushin kahdeksanvuotisesta panttivankeudesta. Musiikillisesti Rise Against on saanut vaikutteita erityisesti The Dead Kennedys ja Bad Religion yhtyeiltä.
Lämppäribändinä toimii suomalainen Lighthouse Project, jonka Rise Against on itse valinnut kumppanikseen.
Konsertti alkaa kello 21.00, ja ovet avautuvat kello 18.00.
